There were some exciting and well competed matches on the opening Saturday of the 2010 qualifying draw. Most of the seeds prevailed but there were a few upsets.

One of the bigger upsets was Little Rock Central junior Austin Crawford beating Milen Rangelov of Bulgaria, 6-4, 6-0.

The #5 seed Chris Klingeman (CAN/Ohio State) was soundly beaten by James Ludlow (USA, BYU), 6-1, 6-0.

In one of the better matches of the day, 2009 NCAA men’s singles champ Devin Britton (USA, Ole Miss) beat the #10 seed Adam Hubble (AUS/Univ. of Tennessee) 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. Britton is trying to find his way in the pro ranks and would be a great entry in the main draw if he can battle his way through his part of the qualifying draw.

And don’t forget about the Junior Pro-Am at 3 PM on Sunday. Good luck to all the participating juniors!
